We are big fans of books in our household & we love being able to share our joy for reading with our baby boy. As a former pre-K teacher I not only love finding rich & delightful children's books but I know how important they can be for language development, even for babies! Not to mention, there are few things cozier to me than snuggling up with my baby on the rocking chair & reading a book together. Here are our top 10 favorite books that we've enjoyed reading with Buddy during the first 6 months.

Your Baby's First Word Will Be DADA. I think the illustrations in this book are wonderful. The book is short & sweet so you can spend as much or as little time as you want with it & I know Buddy will love the animal sounds more & more. Plus, it was written by Jimmy Fallon so, duh.

Dragons Love Tacos. This is Pat’s favorite book to read to Buddy. He’s probably read it a good 8-10 times now (which says a lot because we have about 300+ children’s books to choose from thanks to me having been a former pre-K teacher). He loves reading it to Buddy so much that I just bought Dragons Love Tacos 2: The Sequel for him for Father’s Day.

Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? This is a hands-down-favorite from my teaching days & frankly- can you ever go wrong with Eric Carle? A forever classic, for sure & in board book form it's sure to be loved for a long time.

A Ball for Daisy. Of course I was drawn to this book because we have a dog named Daisy BUT! I fell in love with this book because the story is just heartwarming & there are no words, which will allow Buddy to make sense of Daisy’s emotions in his own way over time. I have had so much fun “reading” it in different ways.

Oh, David! I’ve been a huge fan of David since my teaching days & my students would go nuts for David too. Here we find David in his baby years & his antics are still just as entertaining. If you’re not familiar with David yet get ready, he’s the best.

The Pigeon Loves Things That Go. The Pigeon books have a way of making both kiddos & adults crack up & the board book variations are no exception to that. For as over-the-top as Pigeon is this book is nice & short, perfect for babies & toddlers.

Indestructibles. Wow, is Buddy OBSESSED with these books. After we got our hands on one of them our collection rapidly expanded to six. They are chew proof, rip proof & washable. Buddy can manipulate them, tug on them & shove them in his mouth at no expense to the book. In fact, our beloved dog Daisy got a hold of one & you would never even know. I love that they are thin so  I can keep 2 or 3 in my diaper bag.

Everywhere Babies. Gosh darn, this book is the sweetest. It perfectly celebrates the fact that there are different types of people, babies, families & lifestyles. It’s easily one of my favorite books of all time & I look forward to talking more & more with Buddy, as we read it, about the beauty of diversity.

The Quiet Book. The illustrations make this book so much fun to read & I love all the different types of "quiet" that are depicted. It’s the perfect book for our calm & soothing bedtime routine.

I Love You Night and Day. Buddy is captivated by the colorful illustrations in this book. In addition to that, I have yet to read him this book without getting a teeny bit teary-eyed. It is just so darn precious. I also love that the characters are a simple bear & bunny, which allows the book to represent any type of loving relationship.

If you have any of these books I'd love to know what you think. If you get any of these books, please share your thoughts & what your kiddos think. And if you or your little one have a favorite book that is not mentioned here I'd love to know what it is, please share.
