SUMMER FOR THE BOOKS 2019

Brittany Viklund | Viklund Made | Summer for the Books Checklist

Even though it’s not *officially* summer yet the heat is rising, the days are getting longer & there is an energy all around for the joys of the summer season. And while any time of year is a good time to read, there is something extra magical about summer reading. Not only is summer a wonderful time to pick up a book & establish stronger reading habits in your life it’s also an important time for children who are out of school to help them avoid the summer slide.

Summer brings a lot of excitement for the long-days ahead but those days also seem to zoom by in a blur. I love having a little extra somethin’ to keep me focused on moments that matter most & things I want to accomplish. I’ve created a custom 2019 Summer for the Books bucket list that you can do by yourself, or with your family or any combination of that! This list is designed to keep literacy at the for front of our minds this summer while also having fun (because we can absolutely do both!). Reading with our children or in front of our children is a powerful practice as it helps parents & children connect & sets a tone for the value of books & literacy.

Here it is, my Summer for the Books checklist— it prints off easy-peasy from your home printer on a standard sheet of paper (or at your local print shop). Print it off, hang it up, bring others along for the fun & start checking off boxes!! Be sure to tag me @brittanysbookclub & use the hashtag #brittanysbookclub so that I can keep up with the fun & repost what others are up to— I love doing this as a collective community.
